Race 4 Racial Justice Campaign May 2020

On May 25th, the first anniversary of George Floyd's death, children in Years 4 and 5 took part in the The Race 4 Racial Justice United Race Against Racism. They chose to run, walk, stand or be silent for 7 minutes and 46 seconds which is the length of time that George Floyd’s neck was knelt on that caused his death. For more information, please visit the website www.race4racialjustice.org/

The children in Year 5 raised sponsorship money to support local groups. Year 5 in Bonner Mile End raised an amazing £476.40 to support Women’s Inclusive Team which has been supporting the Black and ethnic minority communities in Tower Hamlets through youth programmes, women’s empowerment projects, mental health support and a food bank and community kitchen. www.wit.org.uk/  In Bonner Bethnal Green so  far, Year 5 raised an impressive £232.65  to support The Mile End Community Project (MCP) which provides educational activities, sporting, recreational and lifelong learning opportunities for Tower Hamlets residents who may not otherwise engage due to social, cultural, racial or economic challenges. www.mileendcommunityproject.org/
