Children at Bonner have frequent opportunities for creative expression. Through art lessons as part of each class’s curriculum, enrichment and special projects, children produce an exciting array of high-quality artworks. They learn about famous artists and visit galleries to gain inspiration and appreciate techniques. Children develop their skills with paint, pastels, clay, textiles, modelling materials and more. Our hall and corridor spaces host huge artistic displays based on the favourite books of each year group – take a look when you can!
Design and Technology
From moving London buses in Year 2 to rockets in Year 5, children design, make and evaluate a range of useful, exciting products as part of our Design and Technology curriculum. Children are also taught the fundamentals of healthy eating and progress their food preparation skills as they move through the school.
We have a specialist Performing Arts Studio with high quality traditional and modern musical instruments, software and equipment. Our specialist music teacher teaches almost all classes a wide range of musical styles and musical notation. The children also take part in many musical projects, such as the Children’s Music Workshop, drumming workshops and our own school projects, such as our all-singing KS1 and KS2 Christmas performances and the Year 6 End of Year Show. KS2 children also have access to Bonner Band, Bonner Voices Choir and individual instrument lessons.
